You’ll walk into your next wedding or social event knowing exactly what to do when the music starts. No more awkward shuffling or standing against the wall watching everyone else have fun.
Our Deer Wells students master fundamental Waltz, Tango, and Salsa steps within weeks, not months. You develop the muscle memory that lets you focus on connecting with your partner instead of staring at your feet.
The confidence you build on the dance floor carries over everywhere else. Students consistently tell us they feel more poised in social situations and actually look forward to events where there might be dancing.
We’ve taught dance classes in Suffolk County long enough to know the difference between students who just want to get through their wedding dance and those who discover a genuine love for dancing.
Most of our Deer Wells clients come to us as complete beginners who are nervous about looking foolish. We’ve choreographed hundreds of wedding first dances and helped countless individuals go from terrified to graceful in just a few weeks.
Our instructors aren’t just technically skilled—we understand how to work with people who’ve convinced themselves they have “two left feet.” We’ve seen it all, and nothing surprises us anymore.
Your first session is a consultation where we figure out your goals, timeline, and biggest concerns. Are you preparing for a wedding? Want to feel comfortable at social events? Just looking for a fun way to exercise? We tailor everything to what you actually need.
Lesson one covers the basics—posture, how to connect with your partner, and simple steps in whatever style interests you most. We break complex movements into pieces you can actually handle, so you’re never overwhelmed or frustrated.
Each lesson builds on what you’ve learned while adding new elements at your pace. Wedding couples typically need 6-8 sessions to feel completely confident, but we adjust based on how quickly you’re progressing and how elaborate you want your routine to be.
Ready to get started?
Every private lesson is completely customized to your needs and goals. Wedding couples get choreography designed specifically for their chosen song, body types, and comfort level—not some generic routine we teach everyone.
Deer Wells couples often choose elegant styles like Waltz or Foxtrot for their timeless appeal, while others prefer the energy of Salsa or Swing. We work with whatever feels authentic to you as a couple, not what looks good on social media.
You learn proper posture, smooth transitions, and how to recover gracefully when things don’t go perfectly. We also cover practical concerns like dancing in a wedding dress, dealing with nerves, and what to do if your partner forgets the steps. Group classes and Friday practice sessions give you extra opportunities to refine your skills in a relaxed setting.
Most wedding couples need 6-8 private lessons to feel completely confident and natural on their big day. This gives you enough time to learn a choreographed routine, practice until the movements become automatic, and work through any last-minute nerves.
We strongly recommend starting 3-4 months before your wedding to avoid the stress of cramming everything in at the last minute. Simple routines might only require 4-5 lessons, while couples planning elaborate choreography often benefit from 10-12 sessions.
The key is giving yourself enough time to actually enjoy the learning process. When you start early, your dance becomes something you look forward to instead of something you’re anxious about.
Not at all. The majority of our students are complete beginners who’ve never taken a formal dance lesson in their lives. We actually prefer working with beginners because you don’t have to unlearn bad habits or overcome previous negative experiences.
Our instructors specialize in working with people who feel uncoordinated or awkward. We start with absolute fundamentals—how to stand, how to hold your partner, basic weight shifts—before moving to actual dance steps. Everything is broken down into manageable pieces.
Your only requirement is willingness to try and a sense of humor about the learning process. Some people pick it up quickly, others need more time, and both are completely normal. We’ve never met anyone who couldn’t learn to dance with proper instruction.
Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely—nothing too tight, too loose, or restrictive. Women do well in skirts or dresses that aren’t floor-length, or comfortable pants. Men should choose slacks or khakis over jeans, which can be stiff and limiting.
Shoes are the most important consideration. Avoid rubber soles that grip the floor too much and make turning difficult. Leather-soled shoes are ideal, but any smooth-soled shoe will work for your first few lessons. Sneakers are generally not recommended.
Don’t invest in expensive dance shoes until you’re sure you want to continue with regular lessons. Try a few classes first, then we can recommend specific footwear based on the styles you enjoy most.
Absolutely. Many of our students are singles who either rotate partners in group classes or work directly with an instructor during private lessons. Both approaches have distinct advantages for learning.
Group classes are excellent for singles because you rotate partners throughout the session, giving you experience adapting to different heights, skill levels, and dancing styles. This actually makes you a more versatile dancer than always practicing with the same person.
Private lessons with an instructor are ideal if you prefer one-on-one attention. Your instructor can guide you through proper technique and connection while you’re learning, then help you practice leading or following as you progress.
Private lesson packages typically range from $100-150 per session depending on the instructor and package size you choose. Wedding couples usually invest $800-1200 total for complete choreography with 6-8 lessons—about the cost of your wedding flowers.
Group dance classes are much more affordable at $20-30 per class or $80-120 for monthly packages. Many students start with group classes to discover if they enjoy dancing, then add private lessons for personalized attention and faster progress.
We offer package deals that reduce the per-lesson cost, and we’ll work within your budget to find an option that makes sense. Consider the investment against how confident and prepared you’ll feel at your next social event.
We teach all major ballroom and Latin styles including Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Cha-Cha, Rumba, Salsa, and Swing. Wedding couples most often choose Waltz or Foxtrot for their elegance and versatility with different types of music.
Latin styles like Salsa and Cha-Cha appeal to students who want something more energetic and expressive. We also teach social dancing fundamentals—basic steps and techniques that work at any party or event with any willing partner.
The styles we focus on depend entirely on your goals, musical preferences, and personality. During your initial consultation, we’ll help you choose the approach that fits your objectives and feels authentic to who you are as a dancer.
