We teach ballroom standards like Waltz, Tango, and Foxtrot alongside Latin favorites including Salsa, Cha-Cha, and Bachata. Old Field couples particularly love our wedding dance packages, which include consultation, music selection, and custom choreography tailored to your song and personality.

How many lessons do we need for our wedding dance?

Most couples need 4-6 private lessons to feel confident with a 3-4 minute song. This gives you time to learn basic steps, work on your connection, and add personal touches without feeling rushed.

Some couples prefer 8-10 lessons if they want more elaborate choreography or have never danced before. Others with some experience might only need 3-4 sessions. We’ll assess your comfort level and goals during your first lesson.

The key is starting early enough that you’re not stressed about it. Begin lessons 2-3 months before your wedding, and you’ll have plenty of time to practice and feel natural.

For wedding dances, yes, both partners should attend every lesson. Your connection and timing develop together, and one person can’t learn to lead or follow effectively without their partner present.

However, if one person wants additional practice or has specific technique questions, individual sessions can be helpful. Some students take extra lessons to work on posture or footwork independently.

We also welcome situations where partners have different schedules. We can work with you to find lesson times that accommodate both of your availability.

Most of our students start with zero dance experience, and that’s perfectly normal. We specialize in working with complete beginners and know exactly how to make you feel comfortable from lesson one.

We start with very basic concepts like posture, simple steps, and how to hold each other. Nothing complicated or intimidating. You’ll be surprised how quickly you pick up the fundamentals when they’re taught properly.

Many of our most confident dancers started as absolute beginners who were nervous about their wedding dance. The key is having patient instructors who understand how to teach adults without making them feel foolish.

Absolutely. We create custom choreography for whatever song you’ve chosen, regardless of tempo, style, or length. Whether it’s a slow romantic ballad, an upbeat pop song, or something completely unique, we’ll make it work.

We analyze your song’s structure, tempo changes, and emotional peaks to create choreography that matches the music perfectly. Some couples want simple, elegant movements while others prefer more dramatic or playful elements.

If your song has challenging timing or unusual structure, we have the expertise to adapt. We’ve choreographed everything from classical pieces to current hits, including complex requests like recreating movie dance scenes.

Comfortable clothes you can move in easily. Think business casual rather than workout clothes. Avoid anything too tight, too loose, or with lots of hardware that might catch on your partner.

For shoes, women should wear something with a small heel that stays on securely. Avoid flip-flops, sneakers, or anything that grips the floor too much. Men do well in dress shoes or anything with a smooth sole that allows for turning.

As you progress, you might want to practice in shoes similar to what you’ll wear for your event. But for learning basic steps, comfort and safety are more important than looking perfect.

Yes, many of our students continue lessons for social dancing, date nights, or personal fitness goals. We offer ongoing private and group lessons for all skill levels and interests.

Our social dance classes focus on leading and following skills that work at any event. You’ll learn to adapt to different partners and music styles, making you comfortable at weddings, parties, or dance venues.

We also offer specialized workshops for specific dances like Salsa nights or swing dancing. Many couples find that dancing becomes a regular part of their social life once they develop confidence and skills.
