You’ll walk onto that dance floor knowing exactly what you’re doing. No awkward shuffling, no stepping on toes, no wondering if everyone’s watching you stumble through your first dance.
Our instructors work with your natural rhythm and comfort level. You’ll learn moves that actually feel like you, not some choreographed routine that makes you feel like you’re performing for strangers.
By your wedding day, you’ll move together like you’ve been dancing for years. Your guests will see two people who are completely comfortable in each other’s arms, creating a moment that’s genuinely yours.
We’ve been helping Suffolk County couples create their perfect first dance for years. We know you’re not professional dancers, and you don’t need to be.
Cold Spring Harbor couples choose us because we get it. You’re busy, you might be nervous, and you want something that feels authentic to who you are as a couple. We’ve worked with everyone from complete beginners to couples who just need to polish their moves.
Our studio creates an environment where you can actually relax and learn. No judgment, no pressure to be perfect, just real instruction that gets you ready for your moment.
First, we talk about your song, your comfort level, and what you actually want your dance to look like. Not what we think it should be, but what feels right for you two.
Then we start with the basics. Simple steps that build your confidence before we add anything fancy. Your instructor breaks everything down so you both understand what you’re doing and why.
As you get comfortable, we add elements that make your dance uniquely yours. Maybe it’s a spin, maybe it’s a dip, maybe it’s just moving together in a way that looks natural and confident. We practice until it feels automatic, so on your wedding day, you can focus on each other instead of remembering steps.
Ready to get started?
Private lessons mean your instructor’s full attention on your specific needs. We work around your schedule, not ours. Evening appointments, weekend sessions, whatever works for your life.
You’ll learn in our spacious Cold Spring Harbor studio with professional floors and mirrors. Everything’s set up so you can see your progress and feel confident about what you’re learning.
Suffolk County couples appreciate that we offer various dance styles. Whether you want a classic waltz, a romantic foxtrot, or something with more energy like salsa or swing, we’ll match the instruction to your song and your personality. Plus, if you want to continue dancing after your wedding, we have group classes and practice sessions where you can keep improving.
Most couples feel confident with 4-6 private lessons, but it really depends on your comfort level and how elaborate you want your dance to be. If you want something simple and elegant, we can get you there in fewer sessions.
If you’re complete beginners, we typically recommend starting 2-3 months before your wedding. This gives us time to work at your pace without any pressure. Some couples come in just a few weeks before and do intensive sessions, which works too.
We’ll assess where you are in your first lesson and give you a realistic timeline. The goal is for you to feel completely comfortable, not rushed or overwhelmed.
That’s completely normal and exactly what we’re here for. Most couples come in with different experience levels, and we’re used to working with that dynamic.
We start with whoever needs more foundational work and make sure both partners understand their roles. The person with more experience often picks things up quickly, while we spend extra time helping the beginner feel confident with the basics.
Our instructors are skilled at teaching mixed-level couples. We know how to keep the more experienced partner engaged while making sure the beginner doesn’t feel left behind or pressured.
Absolutely. We choreograph to your exact song, not some generic routine. Bring us your song, and we’ll create movements that match its rhythm, mood, and style.
Whether it’s a slow ballad, an upbeat pop song, or something unconventional, we’ll make it work. We’ve choreographed to everything from classic love songs to modern hits, even some pretty unique choices couples have brought us.
If your song has tempo changes or unusual structure, we’ll work with that too. The choreography should enhance your song choice, not fight against it.
We offer both private lessons and group classes, plus practice sessions. Private lessons are what most engaged couples choose because you get personalized attention and can work at your own pace.
Our group classes are great if you want to continue dancing after your wedding or if you’re looking for a more social experience. We also have Friday practice sessions where you can work on what you’ve learned in a relaxed setting.
Many couples start with private lessons for their wedding dance, then join group classes afterward because they’ve discovered they actually enjoy dancing together.
Wear comfortable clothes that let you move freely. You don’t need special dance attire, just something you can move in without restriction.
For shoes, avoid anything with rubber soles that might stick to the floor. Leather-soled shoes work well, or even socks if you’re comfortable with that. Ladies, if you plan to wear heels for your wedding, bring them to a few lessons so you can practice.
We recommend avoiding brand new shoes for lessons. Wear something you’ve walked in before so you’re not dealing with uncomfortable or slippery shoes while learning new steps.
We recommend booking 2-3 months before your wedding date, especially if you’re getting married during peak wedding season. This gives us plenty of time to work together without feeling rushed.
That said, we’ve helped couples who called just weeks before their wedding. We’ll work with whatever timeline you have, though starting earlier definitely reduces stress and gives you more time to practice.
If you’re planning a destination wedding or have a busy schedule leading up to your wedding, consider starting even earlier. The more comfortable you are with your dance, the more you’ll enjoy that moment on your wedding day.
