You’ll step onto your wedding dance floor knowing exactly what comes next. No more wondering if you’ll trip, step on each other’s feet, or freeze up when everyone’s watching.
In just 5-10 private lessons, you’ll have a simple yet elegant routine that flows naturally with your song. Your guests will think you’ve been dancing together for years, not weeks.
The confidence you build here doesn’t stop at your wedding. You’ll actually want to dance at other events instead of hiding by the bar, and you’ll have skills that make every anniversary more romantic.
We’ve been helping Suffolk County couples conquer their first dance fears for years. We know that most people feel self-conscious about dancing—especially when all eyes are on them.
That’s exactly why we focus on personalized instruction in a supportive environment. Our experienced instructors don’t just teach steps; we build your confidence one move at a time. We’ve seen countless couples transform from “we can’t dance” to “we can’t wait to show everyone.”
Edgewood couples choose us because we get it. Your wedding day has enough stress without worrying about looking awkward during your first dance. We make sure that’s one thing you can actually look forward to.
We start with a 30-minute consultation where we discuss your song choice, comfort level, and what you want your dance to look like. No pressure, no judgment—just honest conversation about your goals.
Then we break everything down into manageable pieces. You’ll learn basic positioning first, then simple steps that actually match your music. Each lesson builds on the last, so you’re never overwhelmed or confused about what comes next.
By your final lesson, you’ll run through your complete routine until it feels natural. We’ll even help you practice recovering from mistakes, because things happen and you’ll know exactly how to handle them with grace and maybe even a laugh.
Ready to get started?
Your private lessons are completely customized to your song, your style, and your comfort level. We’re not forcing you into some cookie-cutter routine that doesn’t fit who you are as a couple.
You’ll learn proper dance frame and posture that makes you look elegant, basic steps that flow with your music, and smooth transitions that eliminate those awkward “what happens next” moments. If you want something simple, we keep it simple. If you want to add a spin or dip, we’ll make sure you can do it confidently.
Edgewood couples love that we work around their busy schedules. Wedding planning is hectic enough—your dance lessons shouldn’t add stress. We offer flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, so you can actually enjoy learning together instead of rushing through it.
Most couples feel confident with 5-10 private lessons, depending on their comfort level and how elaborate they want their routine. If you’re complete beginners who just want something simple and elegant, 5-6 lessons usually does the trick.
If you want to add more variety or have a longer song, we might recommend 8-10 lessons. The good news is you’ll know after your first couple of sessions how you’re progressing and what feels right for you.
We never pressure you into more lessons than you need. Our goal is getting you confident and comfortable, not maximizing our lesson count.
You’re definitely not alone—most of our couples say exactly the same thing when they first come in. The truth is, you don’t need natural rhythm to learn a beautiful first dance. You just need someone who knows how to break it down properly.
We start with the absolute basics: how to hold each other, how to take simple steps together, and how to move to your specific song’s beat. Everything builds slowly, so you’re never thrown into something that feels impossible.
By the end of your lessons, you’ll be amazed at what you can do. We’ve taught couples who swore they’d never be able to dance, and they ended up loving it so much they continued with social dancing after their wedding.
Absolutely. We create choreography specifically for your chosen song, whether it’s a classic love ballad, something modern, or even something a little unconventional. The key is matching the dance to the music’s rhythm and mood.
If your song is particularly challenging—maybe it changes tempo or is longer than ideal—we can work with your DJ to edit it down to a perfect length. We want your dance to enhance the song’s emotional impact, not fight against it.
During your consultation, we’ll listen to your song together and discuss what kind of movement and energy will make it shine. Your dance should feel like it belongs with that music, not like we forced some generic routine onto it.
The earlier you start, the more relaxed and confident you’ll feel on your wedding day. Most couples begin 2-3 months before their wedding, which gives plenty of time to learn without feeling rushed.
That said, we’ve successfully prepared couples with just a few weeks’ notice. If you’re short on time, we’ll focus on creating something simple but polished that you can master quickly. The key is being realistic about what’s achievable in your timeframe.
Starting early also gives you time to practice at home between lessons, which really helps everything sink in. Plus, you’ll have one less thing to stress about as your wedding day approaches.
Wear comfortable clothes that let you move freely—think athletic wear or casual clothes you’d wear to the gym. For shoes, anything with a smooth sole works better than rubber-soled sneakers, which can catch on the floor.
Ladies, if you’re planning to wear heels for your wedding, bring them to your later lessons so you can practice in them. But for your first few sessions, comfortable flat shoes or low heels are perfect while you’re learning the basics.
Don’t worry about looking like professional dancers. We want you comfortable and focused on learning, not self-conscious about your outfit. Save the fancy clothes for your actual wedding day.
This happens more often than you’d think, and we handle it all the time. The key is finding a middle ground where the experienced partner doesn’t feel bored and the beginner doesn’t feel overwhelmed.
We usually start with basics that help both partners learn to dance together, since dancing with a familiar partner is different from dancing with strangers. Even experienced dancers need to learn their partner’s style and preferences.
The experienced partner often becomes a great practice buddy between lessons, but we make sure they understand how to be encouraging rather than critical. Learning together should bring you closer, not create frustration.
