Forget the anxiety about your wedding dance or that company event. You’ll walk onto any dance floor knowing exactly what you’re doing.
Your friends will ask where you learned to move like that. Your partner will thank you for suggesting lessons. Most importantly, you’ll stop dreading social events where dancing might happen.
Whether it’s your first dance as newlyweds or just wanting to impress at your next night out, you’ll have the skills and confidence to make it memorable for all the right reasons.
Ballroom Factory Dance Studio has been teaching Great River residents to dance with confidence for years. Our instructors aren’t just enthusiastic amateurs – we’re competition-level professionals who know how to break down complex moves into steps you can actually master.
You won’t find the cookie-cutter approach that leaves half the class behind. Every lesson is built around what you need to learn, at the pace that works for you.
We serve Suffolk County dancers who want real results, not just a fun hour. That means personalized attention, flexible scheduling that fits your life, and instruction that actually sticks.
Your first lesson starts with a conversation about what you want to accomplish. Wedding dance? Social confidence? Competition prep? We map out a plan that makes sense for your timeline and skill level.
Each private lesson focuses on building one skill at a time. No rushing through moves you haven’t mastered yet. No waiting for other students to catch up. Just steady progress at your pace.
Between lessons, you’ll practice what you’ve learned. We give you specific things to work on, not vague “keep practicing” advice. By lesson three or four, you’ll notice the difference in how you move and feel on the dance floor.

Our private lessons cover all the ballroom essentials – Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, plus Latin styles like Salsa and Cha-Cha. We customize each session based on your goals and learning style.
For Great River couples planning their wedding, our custom choreography services create a first dance that actually reflects your relationship. No generic routines that look like everyone else’s wedding video.
Group classes are available for those who prefer learning with others, and our studio space can be rented for private events. Flexible scheduling means lessons fit around your work schedule, not the other way around.
Most couples need 4-6 private lessons to feel confident with their wedding dance, depending on the song length and complexity they want. Simple swaying with a few turns? Four lessons usually does it.
Want something more elaborate with dips and spins? Plan for six to eight sessions. The key is starting early enough that you’re not stressed about it.
We work backwards from your wedding date to create a timeline that gives you plenty of practice without cramming everything into the last few weeks.
We offer both options, but most Great River students prefer private lessons for faster results. Group classes work well if you want to meet other dancers and don’t mind learning at the group’s pace.
Private lessons let you focus on exactly what you need without waiting for others or feeling rushed to keep up. You can also schedule them around your work and family commitments.
Many students start with private lessons to build confidence, then join group classes later for social dancing practice.
This happens in almost every couple, and we know how to handle it. Usually one person picks up the footwork faster while the other has better rhythm or leading/following instincts.
We adjust the lesson pace so both partners stay engaged. Sometimes that means giving the faster learner additional styling or technique work while the other masters the basic steps.
Our goal is both partners feeling confident together, not competing with each other. Good instruction makes sure you’re learning as a team, not racing each other.
Absolutely. Many Great River couples want to dance to their favorite song, even if it’s not a classic waltz or foxtrot. We listen to your song and determine which dance style fits best.
Pop songs often work well with a modified foxtrot or swing. Slower R&B might call for a rumba approach. We adapt the choreography to match both the music and your skill level.
You’ll end up with a dance that looks natural with your chosen song, not forced or awkward because you’re trying to waltz to hip-hop.
Comfortable clothes you can move in are the main requirement. Avoid jeans or anything too restrictive. Women can wear workout clothes, a skirt, or dress pants with a top that won’t ride up when you lift your arms.
For shoes, avoid rubber soles that grip the floor too much – they make turning difficult and can cause knee strain. Leather-soled shoes work best, but any smooth-soled shoe will do for learning.
Don’t buy dance shoes until you know you want to continue lessons. We can recommend specific brands and styles once you’ve decided to invest in proper footwear.
Private lesson rates vary based on instructor experience and lesson length, typically ranging from $75-120 per hour in the Suffolk County area. We offer package deals that reduce the per-lesson cost.
Wedding dance packages often include 4-6 lessons plus practice time, which can be more economical than booking individual sessions. We also offer couple discounts or off-peak pricing.
The investment usually pays for itself in confidence and enjoyment. Consider what you’d spend on other wedding vendors – professional dance instruction often costs less than your flowers or photographer.
