What You'll Actually Walk Away With

You’re not just learning steps. You’re gaining the confidence to move naturally with any partner, at any event. Whether it’s your wedding dance or a night out, you’ll feel comfortable leading or following without second-guessing every move.

Our students consistently tell us the same thing: they never realized how much their posture, confidence, and social ease would improve. You’ll develop muscle memory that makes dancing feel natural, not forced. And you’ll understand timing and rhythm in a way that transfers to any song, any style.

The real payoff? You’ll actually enjoy being on the dance floor instead of avoiding it. No more standing on the sidelines while everyone else has fun.

Private Dance Instruction Greenlawn

Your Path From Nervous To Natural

We start with a consultation to understand what you’re working toward. Wedding in three months? Social dancing confidence? Specific style you’ve always wanted to learn? This shapes everything we do together.

Your first lesson focuses on fundamentals that actually matter: how to connect with a partner, basic timing, and the foundation moves that show up in every dance. No overwhelming choreography or complicated footwork that you’ll forget by next week.

From there, we build systematically. Each lesson adds skills that connect to what you’ve already learned. You’ll practice with guidance, get immediate feedback, and walk away with homework that actually helps. Most students see real confidence within 5-7 lessons, though everyone progresses at their own pace.

What's Included In Your Lessons

Every lesson includes personalized attention from experienced instructors who adapt to your learning style and pace. You’ll get clear instruction on technique, timing, and leading/following that translates to confident dancing in any setting.

For wedding couples, we create custom choreography that fits your song, your skill level, and your comfort zone. No awkward moves that don’t feel like “you.” We work with your timeline, whether you have six months or six weeks to prepare.

Group classes offer structured learning with the energy of other students, while private lessons provide focused attention on your specific goals. Many Greenlawn residents start with private lessons to build confidence, then join group classes for additional practice and social connection. We also offer flexible scheduling for busy professionals and weekend options for those who can’t make weekday classes.

How many dance lessons do I need for my wedding?

Most wedding couples feel confident with 5-10 private lessons, depending on your goals and starting point. If you want basic swaying with a few simple moves, 5 lessons usually does it. For something more elaborate or if you’re starting from zero, plan for 8-10 lessons.

We recommend starting 3-4 months before your wedding to avoid stress. This gives you time to practice between lessons and feel natural, not rushed. Some couples come in just weeks before their wedding, and we can still help, but earlier is always better for confidence.

The key is being realistic about what you want to achieve and giving yourself enough time to feel comfortable, not just memorize moves.

Not at all. Many of our students come solo and learn to dance with different partners during group classes. This actually makes you a better dancer because you learn to adapt to different people’s styles and energy.

In private lessons, our instructors partner with you to teach leading and following techniques. For group classes, we rotate partners so everyone gets experience dancing with different people. It’s actually less pressure than you might think.

If you do have a partner who wants to learn with you, that’s great too. But don’t let not having a partner stop you from getting started.

Wear something comfortable that lets you move freely. Avoid baggy clothes that hide your posture, but you don’t need anything fancy. Regular pants or a skirt that doesn’t restrict your legs works fine.

For shoes, avoid rubber soles that grip the floor too much or very high heels until you’re comfortable. Leather-soled shoes or dance shoes are ideal, but regular dress shoes work for your first few lessons. We can recommend specific dance shoes once you decide to continue.

The most important thing is feeling comfortable and confident in whatever you’re wearing. You’re learning, not performing, so dress for movement and comfort.

Private lessons typically range from $75-$120 per session, depending on instructor experience and lesson length. Group classes are more affordable, usually $20-$25 per class. Most students find the best value in package deals that include multiple lessons.

We offer introductory packages for new students that include consultation and first lesson at a discounted rate. Wedding couples often choose packages of 5-10 lessons, which brings the per-lesson cost down significantly.

The investment varies based on your goals, but most people find dance lessons cost less than they expected, especially considering the confidence and skills you gain that last a lifetime.

We cover all the essential ballroom and Latin styles: Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Rumba, Cha-Cha, Salsa, Swing, and more. For weddings, we work with whatever song you choose and adapt the style to fit.

Social dancing students usually start with Foxtrot, Rumba, and Swing because these cover most of what you’ll encounter at parties and events. From there, you can explore Salsa for Latin music, Waltz for formal occasions, or Tango for something dramatic.

We focus on styles that you’ll actually use, not just what looks impressive. Most students find 2-3 styles give them confidence for any social situation, then they can always add more later if they’re interested.

Most students feel noticeably more confident after 4-6 lessons, and genuinely comfortable on the dance floor after 10-15 lessons. This assumes regular practice and lessons every week or two.

Everyone progresses differently based on natural ability, practice time, and goals. Some people feel great after just a few lessons, others want more polish before they’re ready for social dancing. The key is consistent practice, not rushing the process.

What matters most is that you’re enjoying the journey and building real skills, not just memorizing routines. Confidence comes from understanding principles, not just knowing steps, and that takes a bit of time to develop properly.
